Letsema Consulting and Advisory engaged nVisionIT to evaluate an education platform on behalf of its own client. We assessed architecture, code quality, integration and security in a short timeframe and set out the upgrades needed, which Letsema’s client accepted.

Outcomes & impact

The evaluation identified several technical domains that needed to be upgraded, updated and overhauled to reduce technical and security risk. Röhlig-Grindrod is a joint venture between Röhlig Logistics (Germany, founded 1852) and Grindrod (South Africa), delivering integrated freight forwarding and supply-chain solutions across Southern Africa. RG engaged nVisionIT to develop a management system to eliminate manual indexing of commercial invoices, simplify QA and approval workflows, and improve turnaround times while reducing errors in freight documentation.

Outcomes & impact

Processing time was reduced from 8 to 16 working hours to a matter of minutes, regardless of shipment size.

Prime Minister’s Office, Mauritius

Mobile App for the Elimination of Gender-Based Violence

Panic-button GBV reporting app; ~50 cases in week one, 13.6% drop 2022→2023.

Overview

WHO estimates that around a quarter of women experience violence from a partner at least once in their lives, and government estimates put the cost of domestic violence in Mauritius at about 0.5% of GDP. The PMO led a High-Level Committee for the Strategic Plan to Eliminate GBV. One initiative was a mobile app with a panic button, letting victims (including protection-order holders) quickly and discreetly report to Police, at home or work, with immediate intervention based on the alert’s GPS location. nVisionIT designed, developed and deployed the GBV app to all citizens and residents of Mauritius.

Outcomes & impact

Nearly 50 GBV cases were reported through the app in its first week, from around 500 downloads, each routed to Police with the alert’s GPS location. Official police statistics record a 13.6% decrease in reported cases between 2022 and 2023.

City Power Johannesburg is a state-owned electricity utility wholly owned by the City of Johannesburg. Its Smart Meter Implementation Programme places intelligent energy meters in homes and businesses that send usage data to a central hub, enabling active management of electricity distribution. nVisionIT, with the Edison Power Group, integrated smart-metering infrastructure as an IoT deployment in a private cloud.

Outcomes & impact

Demand and usage can now be measured, with collection, disconnection, reconnection, outage identification and restoration, load management and meter reading made more efficient. Microsoft recognised the work in its 2015 global awards, naming nVisionIT its worldwide Application Integration Partner of the Year.

Capitec Bank is South Africa’s largest retail bank by customer base. IDEMIA partnered with Standard Bank to enhance card issuance and distribution across Africa, collaborating with nVisionIT on an Enterprise Stock Management system for Standard Bank’s Card Division. The system tracks the full card lifecycle, from branch order, through IDEMIA production, to customer delivery, in a multi-tenant architecture across nine African countries, integrated with logistics providers for real-time shipment tracking. It also fully rewrote the legacy Card Management System, exposing APIs for integration.

Outcomes & impact

The system improved operational efficiency, reduced manual errors and enhanced visibility across the card supply chain. Branches gained real-time stock data; courier integration streamlined logistics; and audit/reporting features strengthened compliance across 250+ Standard Bank branches.

As part of its digital transformation, AGSA engaged nVisionIT to digitise vendor and contract management: automating the end-to-end process from publishing tenders, submissions and evaluations, through appointments, the appointed-vendor database, contracting and relationship management.

The system automated the full vendor and contract lifecycle, reducing manual intervention and administrative overhead and improving procurement turnaround. The Ministry of Information Technology, Communication and Innovation drives Mauritius’s digital-transformation agenda. The MauPass National Authentication Framework provides secure, centralised authentication for citizens and foreigners accessing e-government services: single sign-on with one set of credentials, two-factor authentication, and web and mobile interfaces, integrated with government services plus MauCas payments and the Information Highway.

Outcomes & impact

MauPass simplified access to government services, improved security and trust in digital transactions, and reduced administrative overhead. It positions Mauritius as a regional leader in digital governance and was referenced in the national budget speech as a cornerstone of the digital-identity strategy.

Zonke Monitoring Systems (a Bidvest subsidiary) was agent of the National Gambling Board of South Africa, operating the Central Electronic Monitoring System for the Limited Pay-out Machine industry. nVisionIT created the end-to-end licensing-management platform covering application through issuing of physical and electronic certificates, across applicant categories from individuals to route operators, locations and manufacturers.

Outcomes & impact

Following the licensing system’s success, ZMS engaged nVisionIT further: a web-based monitoring solution (IoT devices in gambling machines collecting data for financial reporting to device level) and a Sports Betting Management Platform collating betting and online-gambling data into a central store of transactions and win/loss reporting for the authorities.

The Construction Industry Development Board regulates and accredits organisations in the construction industry that serve local and national government. nVisionIT built the CIDB’s core line-of-business systems, including the Construction Register System (managing applications, grading and approval of construction companies), and designed and built the Register of Projects and iTender components used by government departments.

nVisionIT developed a field-management solution for the dredging industry. Designed for tablets in online and offline modes, it lets crews on dredging barges capture activities and measurements, which sync to the cloud when connectivity is available and compile into near-real-time management reporting for project managers on land. The UI was tuned so Dredge Masters are not blinded by the app during night shifts.

Outcomes & impact

Insights about the dredging process and ocean-floor environment are now provided far more frequently and accurately than before, when data was captured manually and re-captured at dock weeks later. An Agile approach let the team push changes to a distributed user base and validate fitness for purpose.
